Bill Schmidt leads Cultivation Capital’s healthcare and life sciences strategy, bringing more than 30 years of experience in medical devices and healthcare IT. He co-founded, built, and sold LDM Group, a digital health company whose proprietary software platform drove patient behavioral adherence. Before LDM, he held a series of executive leadership roles, most notably at United States Surgical Corporation (now part of Medtronic).
Bill serves on the boards of ImageMoverMD, Clever, VedaPointe, BeLeaf Medical, Mediprocity, and SentiAR. He is also Board Chair of the St. Louis Community Foundation, sits on the board of Villa Duchesne High School, and serves on startup evaluation committees for Arch Grants and for the Office of Technology Management at Washington University in St. Louis. He holds a B.S. in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin.
Bill’s interest in cardiac devices is also personal: after an episode of unexplained syncope while traveling in Europe, he underwent a cardiac ablation for supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) in 2016. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he coaches Special Olympics softball and basketball, plays golf, basketball, and pickleball, and was a torchbearer for the 2008 Summer Olympics. He lives in St. Louis with his wife and has three children.
