Fast-growing agtech firm Benson Hill said Thursday it has closed on a $150 million Series D funding round. Wheatsheaf Group and GV, formerly known as Google Ventures, led the funding round. Founded in 2012, Benson Hill, which describes itself as a “food tech company,” has developed technology that uses data science, artificial intelligence and machine learning to help improve crop varieties with better accuracy, nutritional value and sustainability than traditional breeding methods.
