It’s A Bird… It’s A Plane… It’s Coder Girl to the Rescue!
As St. Louis continues to grow as a tech hot spot, so does the need for experienced computer programmers and developers. It’s a good place to be. There are plenty of startups, but not enough people to fill the positions.
Coder Girls to the rescue.
This new initiative founded by Cultivation Capital Portfolio Success Manager, Colleen Liebig, was born from her observations in recruiting talent. The majority applying for programming positions were men.
Coder Girls looks to train and mentor female programmers to help them get technology jobs in the area.
Traditionally, there have been more men than women in the tech field, but Coder Girl wants to even those numbers. Computer science knowledge is quickly becoming a necessity for many professionals looking to advance their careers.
Coder Girl held its first event earlier this month, with the next meeting on June 5th. Classes will be held every Thursday from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm through August and will focus on completing Harvard’s Introduction to Computer Science class. This class is available to take online and is free to the public.
