Name:  Chelsey Cisar

University:  Saint Louis University

 Class of:  2012

What did you study in college?  International Business

When did you start working at aisle411 and how has your role evolved?  I started working for Aisle411 in 2013 as the accounting assistant. Since then, I have also worked as the Retail Partner Manager responsible for onboarding and maintaining relationships with the company’s retail partners.

What are you currently working on?  Today, I’m working on closing the books for the month of September. The biggest (and really exciting) project I have right now is launching new grocers with Aisle411 maps and product location. My favorite thing about the start up world, my job changes every day.

How do you like to spend your free time?  I probably spend way too much time watching TV, but when I have the opportunity I love to be at the Lake of the Ozarks. Boating, hiking and just being near the water is a favorite past time.

What’s next on your list to learn?  Professionally, I would like to start project management courses for my certification. My job often requires I be on top of project operations so there is always room for growth in that area. Personally, I am always up for learning new home improvement skills. I may not look like it, but I think I could have made a great carpenter.

What do you like about working at a startup?  Startups are unpredictable. I love the fact that there is a new opportunity around every corner to grow as a professional and as a team. I like to think I thrive in chaos and working for a start up brings just the right amount of adrenaline to keep you on your toes.

Why feedback or advice would you give to a recent college graduate who is considering launching his/her career in St. Louis?  You’re in a good place! St. Louis professionals are very welcoming if you are willing to take a step out and introduce yourself. Go to events, meet new people, and take genuine interest in what they do. You’ll be surprised at how many people will be genuinely interested in helping you find your perfect first job.

What do you like about working in the Cortex district?  The community in the Cortex district is growing! There are a lot of new events, social and professional, that allow for great networking and growth. Plus, I went to SLU so it’s always great to see the area succeed!

What’s your favorite place(s) to visit or thing to do in St. Louis?  Any of the parks. I love all the activity going on at any moment around St. Louis parks. Festivals, Food trucks, neighborhood parties and one of my favorites is the farmer’s markets.
